Recent song obsessions....
I have very diverse listening tendancies with music. I have been known to listen to pretty much anything, from cool bands (the Shins), to "kareoke singers who aren't really artists" (AKA past winners of American Idol), to unknowns (Feist) to classical and instrumental music.
My roommate, Sarah, listens to a lot of music that I normally wouldn't listen too....but with the exception of the country music and that fucking song by Edwin McCain [I'll be your crying soldier, blah blah blah....hahaha Sarah you love to see me cring when you play it :) ], I really like the music she/we listen to.
Here are a few songs we've been listening to lately that I'm addicted to:
1. That Gwen Stefani song....you know the one that says "TICK TOCK" a lot and at one point tells you to "take a chance you stupid ho"....yah, it's addictive. [note: this song is apparently called "what you waiting for"]
2. Old School Michael Jackson. That's right. i'm talking about that "Free Willy Song", Thriller [oooh also the Ben Gibbard cover of this song], and some "The Way You Make Me Feel"..... there are others too that I can't think of.
3. The "Dance" song by Jamiroquai. I love this song. It's from "Centre Stage". It makes me happy.
4. Reflection by Christina Aguilera. Back before she became all gross and dirty and then tried to make herself into a really skeletal-look Marilyn Monroe, this girl was my favourite singer....this song brings back memories and I hadn't heard it in a while.
5. Disney Songs. I'm talking about amazing songs like "I just can't wait to be king" and many others....pretty much anything from "Aladdin", "Beauty and the Beast" and "Little Mermaid" is fair game...these songs are so nostalgic and make me remember so many good times from when I was a child, or from when I was stranded at a bus stop in the armpit of London in the dark with Leslie for two hours after buying the Irish hat from Value Village. Either way it works.
6. Finally, the Presidents of the United States of America..."She's Lump" and their only other hit "Millions of Peaches". The "peaches" song reminds me of my amazing floor...and it cracks me up that Sarah had never heard of it until last week. Where were you in 1995?? Didn't you know that "Peaches come from a can, they were put there by a man, in a factory downtown"??
That's enough for now. BYE BYE.
